This is a tattoo with my wife's name on it that I first got 18 years ago. It get pretty faded over the years. I just had it re-worked at the local tattoo studio. The original was so faded, that after the artist did the outline, it almost looked as if it was a fresh tattoo without any color yet. This was basically a total rework, and took just over two hours to complete.
This picture from a couple of years ago of me holding my niece shows how faded the tattoo had actually become. It looks much better now than before. Actually, with the colors and highlights that Aaron used, it looks even better than the original did when it was new (which I don't have a picture of).

Very cool, my hubby has my name tatooed on his shoulder blade. Makes a wife know she's loved.
That is sweet. I want to get a tattoo so bad, but my husband is freaked out by them. LOL.
I have always associated tattoos with white trash
Well, I did live in a trailer for a while... :)
refer to girls who have tattoos on their lower backs as "tramp stamps."
Actually, those tattoos are "targets." Gives you something to "shoot for." [wink wink nudge nudge]
Eddie, my middle son had a Celtic Cross tattooed on his calf because of his faith in God. He's a wrestler, who prays before and after every match and wanted something else to show his love for the Lord. People get tattooes for many different reasons. It's like sex, it can either be a beautiful thing between a husband and wife, or cheap hookers and one night stands. Lower back tatooes are trashy; but if you watch any episode of 'Miami Ink' someone is getting a tattoo in memorium for a lost loved one. In some ways it reminds of Old Testament circumcision. It was a permanent marker to a man's body to show his commitment to God. If the intentions are good, then I love them. If it's skulls, demons and boobies; very bad. :)
Personally, I have two tattoos that actually mean something. On my left forearm is a heart and rose with my daughter's name on it, and on my right forearm is the one pictured with my wife's name on it (frankly, that one is far too sexual to have anything other than my wife's name on it)...
The other ones I have are just decoration. No real meaning:
1 skull and cross bones (first tattoo, chest)
2 eagles, one small and one fairly large (upper arms)
1 wolf baying at the moon with a tribal design in the background (right lower leg)
No demons or boobies, though... :)
The small eagle will get covered up withing the next year with a flower design I am working on. Not that I don't like eagles, just that one looks like it should be on a postage stamp...
The larger eagle will be enhanced eventually and will have an american flag behind it.
Skull? The world has come to an end!!
Looks great!! I want to get one but my husband is a youth pastor at a Southern Baptist church and I know of at least one person who would have a heart attack at the youth pastor's wife with a tattoo.
Well, so does pregnancy.
